During my time as Design Lead at PriceRunner, I initiated a work to create and further develop a design system named Fabric. In a team with Frontend Leads and UX, we developed the first version of Fabric in Storybook with “Developers” as our main target group.
The purpose of Fabric is to ensure a uniform brand experience and to speed up the development process with a reusable foundation of validated design components as well as creating a single source of truth
The accessibility aspect is also included in the components and the benefits of using a design system became evident when we - in parallel with the further development of the design system, rebranded PriceRunner as a whole.
Fabric in the future will also include design principles and tonality to make it a branding guide for everyone working at PriceRunner.
Part of the initial Fabric team's work was also to “preach and teach” the design system internally. In order to get allocated time for continuous further development, we needed to make everyone understand the benefits of the new way of working.
